The 1994 Riesling Zobinger Heiligenstein Alte Reben is a superb, dry Austrian Riesling. It possesses a fragrant nose of honeyed fruit, flowers, and cold steel. There is almost the essence of concentrated fruit in this highly extracted, precise wine. Loaded with excellent raw materials, it has the potential to last for 10-15 years. One of Austria's most renowned producers, Brundlmayer's 1994s offer intense levels of fruit in a dry, medium-bodied, highly extracted, gorgeously well-delineated style. The only sweet wine is the 1994 Riesling Auslese Zobinger Heiligenstein. The beautiful purity and precision of the Brundlmayer wines make them among my favorite Austrian offerings.
