The 1991 Nuits St.-Georges offers deep color, an attractive, earthy, plum-scented nose, and ripe, medium-bodied, spicy flavors with moderate tannins in the finish. While somewhat compact, it is successful for its appellation. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. The 1991 releases may turn out to be the most complete Gouges wines in over two decades. Although not exceptional, they display more color, bouquet, richness, and length than any vintage since Gouges' marvelous 1969s. Importer: Vineyard Brands (Robert Haas), Chester, VT.
