The 2009 Chardonnay Corralillo saw 60% of the wine fermented in barrel, the rest in stainless steel before they were blended and spent 9 months sur lie in oak. A small portion of the wine went through malolactic fermentation. Notions of stony minerals, melon, buttered popcorn, and spring flowers set the stage for a concentrated, spicy, impeccably balanced wine with ample vibrant acidity and layered fruit. This lengthy offering is an outstanding value meant for drinking over the next 2-3 years. Matetic is a biodynamically farmed winery, a rarity in Chile at the moment, whose grapes are certified organic.Importer: Quintessential Wines, Napa, CA; www.quintessentialwines.com
