The 1992 St.-Joseph Deschants (made from less than 20 hectoliters per hectare) exhibits a fabulous bouquet of powdered flint, blackcurrants, herbs, and smoke. Rich and full-bodied, with superb ripeness and density, this is a beautifully pure, delicious wine for drinking over the next 10-15 years. Chapoutier is a significant vineyard holder in the northern Rhone. His St.-Joseph Deschants has become the firm's most enticing wine bargain as it resembles a mini-Hermitage in its richness and complexity.
