The 2009 Heredad de Candela is 100% Monastrell that spent 9 months in new 500-liter French oak. Fragrant aromas of cassis, lavender, black raspberry, sandalwood, and exotic spices inform the nose of an elegant, sweetly-fruited, plush, pleasure-bent wine that can be approached now and over the next 6-8 years.
Senorio de Barahonda dates back to 1925 and has been operated continuously by the Candela family. Their vineyards cover 840 acres in and around the town of Yecla in Murcia and include some of the oldest Monastrell plantings in Spain. All of the wines are produced from organically farmed estate-grown fruit.
