Boasting a stylish and contemporary label redesign, the Ronco delle Betulle 2016 Friuli Colli Orientali Narciso is a smart blend of 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc from 35-year-old vines planted on a southeast-facing terraced hill. This wine is only made in the best vintages. The words Rosazzo Rosso were once featured in the name of the wine but have since been removed. A small percentage of Refosco is sometimes used in the blend depending on the vintage. This is a generous, fruit-driven wine with blackberry, plum, spice, tobacco and campfire ash. The tannins show some dryness, but the overall richness and texture of all that dark fruit smoothes things over nicely, especially when accompanied by a well-marbled steak. Some 3,000 bottles were released.
