Sadly, there are only 75 cases of the exquisite 1998 Hermitage. Closed at present, but loaded on the palate, this dark ruby/purple-colored Hermitage offers a peppery, smoky, earthy bouquet with copious quantities of black fruits intermixed with mineral and pepper characteristics. As this rich, full-bodied wine sits in the glass, scents of chocolate and truffles emerge. Dense and chewy, this impressively structured, muscular Hermitage requires 3-4 years of cellaring. It should keep for two decades.
