The 2009 Saia is made in a richer, deeper style than the straight Nero d’Avola, but I am not sure it is a meaningfully better wine, there is just more of everything in the glass. Black cherries, licorice, mint and tobacco wrap around a big, voluptuous finish. Silky and polished throughout, the 2009 Saia is another fabulous wine from Feudo Maccari.
