Tasted Once
It is a tribute to the 1947 vintage that Clos Rene, a mid-80 point performer in most top years, could have produced such a phenomenal wine. For those lucky enough to run across a bottle at auction, it will undoubtedly sell at well below its true value. An under-rated property, Clos Rene's 1947 exhibited the viscosity possessed by many of the great Pomerols of this vintage. The thick looking garnet color is followed by scents of apricots, coffee, and jammy black-cherries. Full-bodied, with layers of chewy fruit, this fully mature yet remarkably healthy, macho wine will continue to offer decadent drinking for another 10-15 years.
