The 1985 Brunello di Montalcino enjoys a more saturated color, as well as a more intense, riper perfume than the 1986. The aromas of gorgeously rich black fruits and oriental spices are followed by a full-bodied, magnificently rich wine that still has considerable tannin to shed. This superb Brunello can be drunk now, but it promises to be even better with another 3-4 years of cellaring. It should last for 10-15 or more years. My first look at this producer's wines left a favorable impression.
