The 2007 Frappato is a mid-weight offering with a pretty core of perfumed, candied red berries. The ethereal qualities of the wine make it a good match for lighter foods. This quirky, soft red is best enjoyed over the near-term. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2010. I was very impressed with the wines I tasted from Valle dell’Acate. If you’ve never tried Frappato (a variety native to Sicily), here is an excellent wine to start with.
