Few California wineries produce as gorgeous a Sauvignon Blanc as Araujo. The wine is not put through malolactic and is fermented completely in oak with lees stirring, so there is more texture and aromatic intensity than is usually found in Sauvignon. This cuvee is handled as seriously as the Cabernet, and it shows in the final product. There are 850 cases of the 2005 Sauvignon Blanc (which includes 3% Viognier). Its light straw/green-hued color is accompanied by lovely aromas of lemon oil, orange rind, honeysuckle, grapefruit, and crushed rocks. Medium-bodied, crisp, flavorful, and intense, it is a perfect breakfast wine. Consume it during its first several years of life. Tel. (707) 942-6061; Fax (707) 942-6471
