The 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Quet possesses slightly less color saturation than the 2001, but gorgeous purity as well as a textbook nose of kirsch liqueur mixed with hints of black currants, licorice, and balsam wood. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, with great fruit as well as harmony, sweet tannin, and more accessibility than the bigger, more structured and formidable 2001. Filled with up-front fruit, this pure, sexy 2000 may reveal even more with another 4-5 years of bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2017. This is an up-and-coming Chateauneuf du Pape estate that merits serious consideration.Importer: Alain Junguenet, Wines of France, Mountainside, NJ; tel. (908) 654-6173
