If you can't find Bonneau's 1990 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee des Celestins, don't despair. The 1990 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Marie Beurrier is nearly as profound. Bonneau feels it is lighter than his Celestins, but in Bonneau's vocabulary, "light" means "massive!" This huge, concentrated wine possesses much of the same character as the 1990 Celestins, but it is slightly less tannic and powerful. However, it is unquestionably a wine of extraordinary size and enormous extract and richness. It should drink well for 20+ years.
Long live Henri Bonneau!
