Boglietti’s 2006 Barolo Arione emerges with pretty notes of smoke, iron, red fruits, roses, tar and herbs that meld into a core of exotic fruit. There is a tenseness and focus to the Arione I find particularly engaging. The wine’s sinewy, muscular personality carries through to the powerful, expressive finish. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026. Classic Barolo aromas of morello cherry, violets, liquorice and oak. Very enjoyable but traditional style with good weight, nice acidity and integrated oak, although the tannins are grippy now. Has enough fruit to develop well. Alc: 14%.
