A terrific value in Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon (perhaps that region’s most underrated varietal), Kaesler’s 2005 Old Vine Cabernet (100% Cabernet Sauvignon from 35-year-old vines) spent 14 months in one and two-year-old French oak. It possesses toasty, subtle pain grille aromas interwoven with scents of black currants, minerals, cigar smoke, and spice box. Fabulous intensity and length, medium to full body, an opulent palate, and good structure as well as definition suggest it should drink well for 10-12 years.
