Last year I touted the wines of Michel Maret. I liked them so much that I ordered some for my cellar. Michel Maret makes a wonderful cuvee of Vacqueyras from that lazy, southern Rhone winemaking village a few miles down the road from Gigondas. His 1995 Vacqueyras reveals a dense, dark purple color, a big, peppery, spicy, jammy black-cherry-scented nose, full body, fine power, and a long, rustic, large-scaled finish. It is an excellent wine that should drink well for 5-7 years. This wine was tasted between June 1 and June 16, 1996.Surprisingly, the only American importer is Geerlings and Wade, Canton, MA; tel.
