Harvested at 13.7% natural potential alcohol, the 2003 Clos Vougeot (250 cases from 1.25 hectares – 3.09 acres) finished its alcoholic fermentation in new oak barrels. Its intense aromatics are reminiscent of blackberries, black cherries, spices, and chocolate. A bold, medium to full-bodied wine, it is powerful, velvety-textured, dense, and exceptionally long. Some alcoholic warmth, detectable in its hugely impressive finish, prevented a more exalted review. Projected maturity: 2009-2020.
