The 2008 Dolcetto d-Alba Vignalunga is a pretty, mid-weight wine, but like so many Dolcettos in this vintage, the wine suffers from a lack of depth and concentration. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011. Proprietor Angelo Rocca makes some of the richest Barbarescos in town, but even he couldn't overcome the challenges of the 2006 vintage. His Barbarescos show excellent integrity of fruit and a refined use of oak, even if they don't quite reach the level of his finest wines.
