LAST TASTED 3/94
Confirming Hess's success in this vintage, the 1983 regular bottling offers deep ruby color with no signs of lightening, and a bouquet offering gobs of sweet, rich, blackcurrant fruit and spice. This youthful-tasting wine is medium to full-bodied, with laudable extract levels, and sweet, jammy fruit. A spicy character pervades the wine's personality. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
