The excellent, nearly outstanding 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape Sinards is a blend from a friend's vineyard near the village of Gres, not far from Beaucastel, as well as declassified wine from Beaucastel. A deep purple color is followed by sweet black cherry fruit infused with smoke, leather, and roasted meat. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with good underlying acidity, and a delineated finish.
