As I have written before, this winery is turning out a bevy of high quality wines. For example, I do not know of any winery that is producing better Oregon Merlot and Cabernet than Foris. One of the finest 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon's made in the Pacific Northwest, Foris's Klipsun Vineyard is an inky-black/purple-colored wine with a youthful, exuberant nose of blueberries and blackcurrants. Layers of sweet, pure fruit are intense, but not heavy. The tannin, acidity, and alcohol (14.1%) are remarkably well-integrated in this exceptionally well-made Cabernet Sauvignon. Given its youthful state, this wine should age well for 10-12+ years. Tel. (800) 84 FORIS

Tough, chewy texture barely lets the black cherry, currant and perfumy flavors through, but they do surface, and linger on the tannic finish. Best after 1999. -HS
