The 2005 Shiraz “The Beast” was aged in French oak for 18 months. Purple-colored, it exhibits a nose of cedar, smoke, leather, scorched earth, violets, blackberry, and blueberry compote. This is followed by a full-bodied, personality-filled wine with gobs of fruit, excellent breadth on the palate, silky tannin, and a long, pure finish. Give it 5-7 years in the cellar and drink it through 2025.
Hentley Farm is an 80 acre estate located on the banks of Greenock Creek at Seppeltsfield. The proprietors are Keith and Alison Hentschke. The vineyard was planted in the late 1990s.
