Like the 2012 vintage, the 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva is born in a hot and dry year. This wine shows signs of premature evolution with aromas of used leather, candied fruit and cured meat. There is some fresh fruit at the core but I'm not confident it will last much longer. I'd suggest a five-year drinking window at most. This Riserva is made with 80% Sangiovese blended with other Tuscan red varieties.

A modern style, this offers deep color and ample oak notes of vanilla and spice, with a core of black cherry and plum fruit. Big, dusty tannins frame the finish. For fans of the style.
