Last but not least is the magnificent 2003 Felix Callejo Family Reserve. It is 100% Tempranillo aged 15 months in French oak in contact with the lees. In appearance it is a thick opaque purple and the fermentation with native yeasts has given it a kinky, wild blueberry and blackberry nose along with creme de cassis reminiscent of Napa’s Colgin Cabernet. There is beautiful fruit, impressive purity and lots of complexity in this intellectually as well as hedonistically-styled effort. Give it 4-6 years of cellaring and drink if for another 20+.
