San Felice's 2011 Chianti Classico is not as successful as the 2010 edition (a wine that I really adored). Sangiovese is blended with Colorino and Pugnitello to form a smooth embroidery of dark fruit and spice. This vintage feels a bit heavier and flatter thanks to the summer heat and the warmer growing conditions in the Castelnuovo Berardenga sub zone. Sweet cherry fruit and cola appear on the close.

A bit reduced initially, with earthy, smoky aromas that lead to flavors of cherry, accented by a hint of coffee. Mineral and leather notes emerge with air.
