The 1996 Nebbiolo d'Alba Occhetti is a fine and impressive wine. This unfiltered, deep ruby/garnet-colored wine displays an elegant, spicy, smoky, dried herb, black cherry, and raspberry-scented nose. In the mouth, hints of licorice, floral scents, and fruitcake combine with the wine's jammy fruit. This harmonious, medium to full-bodied wine should continue to drink well for 5-7 years. This winery has been producing better wines, particularly since its acquisition by Tuscany's Antinori family.
