Produced from a north-facing vineyard, the Meursault Au Murger exhibits a muted nose, silky texture, powerful fruit intermingled with stones and minerals, and excellent length. Qualitatively, this medium-to-full-bodied offering is nearly the equal of Les Clous, but it lacks complexity. Drink it between 1999-2006. Javillier also makes a Meursault Charmes but I did not have the opportunity to taste it.
This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy between January 7 and January 29. Ratings with a range of scores in parentheses indicate the wine was tasted from cask, not bottle.
