The 2006 Semillon was aged in seasoned French oak. Light gold-colored, it offers aromas of citrus, spring flowers, and melon. This leads to a creamy textured wine with ripe melon flavors buttressed by crisp acidity. The finish is medium-long and refreshing. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.
Amavi Cellars is the sister winery to the better known Pepper Bridge Winery. It shares the same winemaker, Jean-Francois Pellet, and the same estate vineyards (Seven Hills, Pepper Bridge, and Les Collines) but from different vineyard blocks. Prices are about half of those of Pepper Bridge with virtually the same level of quality but made in a more forward style.
