Fashioned from 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, the 2007 Vacqueyras Vieilles Vignes does not possess the power of the Rasteau, but it is a concentrated, elegant wine exhibiting notes of tapenade, kirsch, and soil undertones. This full-bodied, fresh, lively Vacqueyras should drink nicely for 7-8 years. It will be appreciated by consumers who do not want a teeth-staining powerhouse such as the Rasteau. This partial look at the Tardieu-Laurent portfolio concentrates on the value-priced offerings from the southern Rhone.
