The 2012 Laborum Torrontes, from the Salta region, has a pleasant, almost Alsace-like bouquet with notes of pear, nectarine and honeysuckle. The palate is fresh and exhibits good weight on the entry, with grapefruit, melon and nectarine combining well. It shows fine focus, although the finish is just a little predictable. Still, this is a well-made Torrontes. Drink now-2015. Bodegas El Povenir de los Andes (to give it its full title) was founded in 1890 in the Cafayate Valley. However, it was only in 1999 that it was given a new lease on life when it was purchased by the Romero-Marcuzzi family, who already owned a winery nearby in Tolombon. The fruit is sourced from two estates covering 192 acres: El Retiro and Rio Seco.Importer: VOS Selections, Graziano Import & Export and Bottled Poetry Imports LLC; www.bottledpoetrybrands.com
