The flagship 2005 Perfil de Mibal was sourced from 80-year-old vines and spent 16 months in new French oak. Brooding black fruits, pain grille, pencil lead, exotic spices, lavender, and tapenade inform the nose of this dense, powerful, layered, structured offering. It is likely to unwind for another 2-3 years and offer a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2025.
Miguel Hornillos and Javier Ballesteros have combined their vineyard holdings to produce first-class, fairly priced wines from Ribera del Duero.
