Piero Lanza is the scion of one of the great noble families of Florence, the Ginori Conti, and his vineyards in Radda in Chianti are in an historic area for fine Sangiovese. The quality of the grapes is immediately perceptible in the 2001 Chianti Classico, well above the appellation average in its firmer and fresher color, more expansive aromas, and more expressive fruit.
