Tough-edged, but with an hour of decanting some of the dry, leathery, earthy flavors give way to a modest core of supple currant, spice and mineral. Finishes with dry, earthy tannins; decant, but best to drink soon, as it will likely dry out. Drink now through 2006. 8,500 cases made. -JL
