Caparzo’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is made in a more powerful, masculine style than the normal bottling. A dark ruby, it reveals outstanding definition in its smoke, earthiness, tobacco and black cherries with notable energy on the palate. Today it finishes long and slightly clenched, indicating at least another year or two of bottle age is needed to help bring the wine into better balance. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.
