A stunning discovery from the Costieres de Nimes by importer Robert Kacher, this wine is virtually too good to be true. A fine wine is the 2000 VDP d'Oc (1,800 cases for the USA), a blend of 55% Grenache and 45% Syrah that has never seen one day in wood. Made from yields of 46 hectoliters per hectare, this $8 wine tastes like one costing three-four times as much. With admirable texture, great purity, and abundant quantities of fat, peppery, spicy, black cherry, plum, and berry fruit, this delicious wine will offer character and complexity over the next 2-3 years.
