As for Durieu’s white Chateauneuf du Pape (Roussanne and Grenache blanc), the 2006 is superb, with notes of lemon blossom, nectarine, and honeysuckle in a full-bodied, ripe, fresh style with no evidence of wood. This is a beauty to drink over the next 4-5 years.
This estate, which has top-notch vineyard sites (some 1983s in my cellar are still drinking beautifully), has come back strong after a period of producing “bretty,” irregular wines.
