Where the 2001 was all umami and purple fruit, this 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is like peppered meat and roast beef. It has all the sweet pan juices and dark chocolate you could ask for. There is so much density of tannin and fruit in there—the two feel inseparable. There are notes of chewing tobacco and blackcurrants and black cherries through the finish. This is an excellent wine, and it's astoundingly fresh and vibrant at 21 years old. The texture a highlight. It matured in French oak barriques for 20 months. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
