Glass-staining purple. Syrah-like aromas of dark berries, cherry pit, violet and cracked pepper, plus a hint of smoked meat. Rich, palate-coating and smoky, offering sweet blackberry and cassis flavors that show a bitter chocolate quality on the back half. Tangy acidity adds welcome lift and cut to a long, sappy, tannic finish. This is a bruiser and could use a couple of more years to soften up a bit.
