Extremely high acidity interferes with the taster’s enjoyment of the 2001 Pinot Noir Sanford and Benedict Vineyard in spite of what appears to be impressive levels of dark berry/briery fruit. The tangy acids are comparable to putting a suit of armor around the wine’s fruit and terroir characteristics. In addition to the high acidity, this 2001 Pinot Noir possesses excellent purity as well as ripeness. Put this one away for 1-2 years, and hope the fruit holds ... certainly the acid will. Tel.
