The 1999 Pinot Noir Sanford and Benedict Vineyard exhibits a saturated ruby/purple color. Its rich attack (offering chocolatey/cherry notes) is followed by excessively high acidity, causing the wine to become compressed and attenuated. Acid enthusiasts will get a bigger jolt out of this Pinot than I did. It will age for 5-7 years, but will it ever come into balance? I don't think so. Tel. (805) 688-3300.
