The 1989 Chassagne-Montrachet Chenevottes has aged extremely well. The nose remains vigorous with great definition: honeysuckle and pralines scents at first, smoke and lemon rind later. The palate is clean and fresh, with a keen edginess that lends this Chassagne-Montrachet tension and vigor, although, to quibble, it probably does cut away a little abruptly. Still, this is a very fine Chassagne that appears to be in graceful decline. Drink now-2018.
