The 2015 Beaune 1er Cru Champs Pimont was totally de-stemmed and is being raised in 20% new oak. Here I discerned just a little bit of sur-maturité, although that could be addressed by the completion of its élevage. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, grippy tannin. There is plenty of burly black fruit here with a firm backbone, quite assertive towards the finish that needs to muster more finesse.
