The 2003 Barbaresco Roncaglie is simply a superb effort, especially considering the vintage. Classy and elegant all the way, it offers compelling nuances of super-ripe cherry, rose, menthol and licorice with deeply expressive layers of fruit that open in the glass, showing outstanding length and persistence. Though made in the rich, full-bodied style of the vintage it is beautifully balanced by a classic sense of proportion and well-integrated tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015.
