This is one of Bisceglia's most successful lines of wines. However, the 2014 Aglianico del Vulture Gudarrà is less convincing than past editions. On the plus side, the wine is brimming with a level of generosity and softness that is rare to see in the very tannic and astringent Aglianico grape. But there is a noticeable touch of volatile acidity (with bruised apple aromas) that take away from the overall purity and integrity. There's a lot of sour fruit on the close. For less than double the price, I recommend the 2008 Riserva version of this wine instead.

This is medium-bodied and grippy, featuring fresh acidity layered with a creamy mix of crushed blackberry flavors and hints of dark chocolate, orange zest, leather and balsamic.
