The Bonnes Mares is a very fragrant, richly perfumed wine with only a medium ruby color, but long, spicy flavors suggestive of berry fruit and cinnamon. Some firm tannins are present, so expect the Bonnes Mares to be at its peak by 1992-1995. No doubt this wine, the best of Dujac's 1983s, will be impossible to obtain, for only two barrels, or 50 cases, were produced
It is no secret that this estate did not have the success in 1983 that one might have expected. Jacques Seysses was apprehensive about the rampant rot in the vineyards and pulled the skins off the macerating grape juice very quickly in order to avoid the taste of rot in his wines.
