The Il Molino di Grace 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva is a mild and subtle expression with a soft approach that segues to wild berry, cherry and rose. This wine that sees a mix of Slavonian oak casks, French barrique and tonneaux aging shows pretty floral aromas with blue violets and dried lavender buds. There are background tones of dried Mediterranean herb and crushed stone. This is one of the more tonic and elegant wines I encountered from the hot 2017 vintage.

A tightly wound beam of black currant, black cherry, iron, tar and tobacco is wrapped in the grip of dense, lively tannins in this red, which is concentrated and vibrant, with a long, mouthwatering finish.
