Fess Parker's Pinot Noirs have been open-knit and supple, with abundant herb-tinged black cherry fruit, and a nice dosage of toasty wood. Recently, the wines have displayed more force and depth. The light ruby-colored 1998 Pinot Noir reveals jammy cherry fruit intermixed with dried herbs and toast. Medium-bodied, silky-textured, and fleshy, it should drink well for 3-4 years. This offering is a fairly-priced wine for such quality. Tel. (805) 688-1545; Fax (805) 686-1130
