The first vintage of Hermitage Blanc I've tasted from this estate (not that he hasn't released it in the past), the 2013 Hermitage Blanc is a Marsanne-dominated blend that incorporates 20% Roussanne. There's a tiny 300 cases made, of which only 2.5 cases are imported to the US. Its medium gold color is followed by a rich, layered white that offers terrific intensity in its buttered orchard fruits, honeysuckle, quince, crushed rock and toasty oak-scented bouquet. Full-bodied, beautifully pure and elegant, it needs short term cellaring, but will have more than two decades of overall longevity.
