Coming from Boushey vineyard and made from 100% whole-cluster fermented Syrah, the 2019 Syrah la Serenne begins with a gorgeous nose that boasts aromas of black raspberry compote, spiced plums and cinnamon-sprinkled cherries before dusty roses and lavender flutter from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, the palate displays an elegant array of complexity with enticing flavors of dried herbs, sweet black fruits and a subtle spice tone that gives way to buttressing tannins across the mid-palate. The wine continues to evolve and somersault, offering pleasure at each turn before concluding with persistent flavors of blackberry skin, dried lavender and dusty plums. It’s another brilliant bottling that has me refilling my glass. Bravo!
